FERNANDES REJECTS NEW UNITED DEAL

  • 25 March 2021

Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes has reportedly turned down the offer of a new deal from his club. This is according to the publication from popular English media platform The Sun.

It was revealed that the player is reluctant to sign a new deal as he wants assurances from Manchester United officials on transfers. Bruno Fernandes wants the club to fight for major titles but the Portuguese national team player is not convinced that the club is equipped to do that.

Fernandes became a Manchester United player at the start of last year following his transfer from Sporting Lisbon FC of Portugal. The Red Devils paid an initial fee of £47m for the Portuguese international but the fee could be as high as £60m to £70m depending on the add-ons in the transfer that took him from Portugal to the Premier League.

Fernandes signed a five-and-a-half year deal at Manchester United last year when he joined from Sporting Lisbon until the end of the 2024/25 season with the option of an additional year. He earns £100,000 on a weekly basis at Manchester United and the club is ready to double his wages to £200,000 with the new offer.

The player is ready to wait to see how ambitious the club is with transfers before deciding to commit his future to the Old Trafford outfit. The offer of a new deal will make Bruno Fernandes one of the top earners at Manchester United if he goes ahead to sign it. The likes of Paul Pogba, David De Gea and EdinsonCavani are three of the top four earners at Manchester United and they might not be at the club by the next season starts.

Frenchman Pogba has one year left on his contract at Manchester United and he's likely to leave this summer. For De Gea, the club is ready to listen to offers for him. On Cavani, the Uruguayan international is not happy at Manchester United according to his father and that he could sign for Argentine club Boca Juniors.
