United lucky with Bournemouth win, says ten Hag
Erik ten Hag was happy to see Manchester United get a crucial victory over Bournemouth in the recent Premier League encounter. However, the Manchester United boss claims that the Red Devils were quite lucky to get the three points against the Cherries.
The victory has put United level on points with Newcastle, who went on to get a draw with Arsenal in their league match. Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Casemiro came up with the goals for United. After the game, Erik ten Hag claimed that United could have certainly dropped points in this encounter if not for some lucky intervention.
United go up against Everton in the FA Cup meeting with the Merseyside outfit on Friday night. Even though Everton have only picked up one victory in the recent 10 league outings, Erik ten Hag does not expect an easy encounter against Frank Lampard’s team.
Everton did suffer a crushing 4-1 loss against Brighton just a few days after the valiant draw with City. The result over Bournemouth means that United have been able to register a win in four successive league games. The team from Manchester have also been able to hit three clean sheets in a row. In the league, however, United are set to go through a difficult run with games against Manchester City and Arsenal.
“I'm happy with the result. Today it was not our best game. We have to be honest, we didn't play that smart as a team. We made great goals, but at times we were quite lucky, and some great saves from David [de Gea]. We could have been smarter as a team. We have to go from game-to-game. The next game is a cup one, but we want to win every game. That has to be the approach,” said ten Hag.
