UNITED DUO OUT OF LIVERPOOL CLASH
Manchester United have to face arch rivals Liverpool in their Premier League encounter this weekend without two of their first team players due to injury. The Red Devils will have to navigate the game without French defender Raphael Varane and Brazilian international Fred.
French international Varane swapped 13-time European champion Real Madrid for Manchester United in the summer and he has missed the last two games in all competitions after he sustained a groin injury during the UEFA Nations League final clash with Spain. Varane was in the France starting XI as the reigning world champions came from a goal down to beat Spain 2-1 and win the UEFA Nations League title in the process. The injury forced Varane to miss the 4-2 away defeat against Leicester City last weekend and he also sat out the 3-2 comeback victory over Italian Serie A side Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Varane will also miss the Liverpool game in the Premier League this weekend as a result of the abovementioned groin injury. He would be join on the sidelines for the Liverpool game by Brazilian midfielder Fred after the ex-Shakthar Donetsk player sustained a thigh injury during the Atalanta game earlier this week.
While Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching staff won't be without the duo of Varane and Fred, they are also sweating on the fitness of four players namely Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Anthony Martial.
Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both played in the Champions League win over Atalanta and they both picked up respective knocks during the game. Rashford had a dead leg in the game and he's a doubt for the Liverpool game, while Bruno Fernandesis also a doubt for the visit of the Reds with a knock from the Atalanta game.
