RONALDO ON SIX-MAN AWARD NOMINEES LIST

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award. The nominees for the award was released earlier this week. Ronaldo was one of six nominees on the list after he finished at the topscorer on his return to Manchester United last summer.

37-year-old Ronaldo made his return to Manchester United at the start of the just concluded season after his transfer from Italian team Juventus was secured. The Portuguese international had one year left on his contract with the Old Lady when he left the Italian Serie A outfit to sign for the Red Devils.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions during the first season of his second spell at Manchester United including 18 goals in the Premier League. In his first game back at Manchester United in September 2021, Ronaldo scored twice to lead the Red Devils to a 4-1 win at home to Newcastle United.
Five-time Ballond'or winner Ronaldo finished third on the list of the highest goalscorers during the just concluded Premier League season. He finished five goals off the Golden Boot award winning duo of Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min.
Salah made the list of nominees for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award alongside Ronaldo after he scored 23 goals in the Premier League. He scored one of the goals in a 3-1 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last league game for Liverpool to win the Golden Boot award. Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-Min also scored 23 league goals, but he didn't make the list of nominees for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyneand Tottenham Hotspur attacker Harry Kane also made the nominees’ list. The Liverpool duo of Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane also made the list.
