Fergie Attacked

Police have confirmed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was attacked at a North London railway station on Monday afternoon.

The vastly experienced and successful Scottish boss had travelled to the capital to attend a function.

However, the 66-year-old was attacked by a man at Euston Station at about 4:30pm, at which time British Transport Police were called to the scene.

Hargreaves Ruled Out

Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves and Chelsea's Frank Lampard have both been ruled out for England's Euro2008 qualifier against Russia tomorrow.

Hargreaves suffered a thigh injury in training last Wednesday and was unavailable for the weekend Euro qualifier with Israel at Wembley.

Foster Back in January

Ben Foster is set to hand Manchester United and England a significant injury boost.

The Guardian says Foster, who needed an operation in the close season to deal with a persistent knee-ligament problem, was not expected to be available until March but the specialists who have been treating him believe he could return in January.

Rooney Wants to Play!

Wayne Rooney wants to play for Manchester United this weekend against Everton.

The Sun says Rooney last night told boss Alex Ferguson he is raring to return against his old club Everton on Saturday.

Manchester United striker Rooney, 21, has been sidelined after breaking his metatarsal on the opening day of the season.

But he has been out of plaster for a fortnight and training hard.

Neville Back to Fitness

Manchester United defender Gary Neville is hoping to end his injury nightmare in the next fortnight.

The England international has been on the sidelines for nearly a month after injuring his ankle against Bolton back in March.

A thigh injury curtailed Neville's first comeback, but the Red Devils stalwart is confident of featuring within the next two weeks.

Patrice: Fletcher Underrated

Patrice Evra has hailed Manchester United teammates Darren Fletcher as an "unbelievable player".

The pair will lock horns this week when France face Scotland in their Euro2008 qualifier and Evra said: "Darren is an unbelievable player. He can run all day and has great technique and vision.

"He's the complete midfielder and one of the best I have ever played with.

Rio: No More Euro Losses

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says England cannot afford to drop any points for the rest of their Euro2008 qualifying campaign.

Ferdinand said: "I think we still need to win every game - even in Moscow. But we can do that. It was a pleasing performance against Israel but it's only the first result in a batch of five qualifying games.

Ji Sung Park is confident that Man United will retain the Premiership trophy this season.

Eight United players have been named among the top 100 footballers in the world in a list compiled by FourFourTwo magazine.

Cristiano Ronaldo, United's outstanding player in the title-winning 2007/08 campaign, was pipped to first place by AC Milan's Brazilian midfielder Kaka, who was the key figure in the Italian side's Champions League success last term.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo are close friends, and even the extent Rooney was willing to go to to help get the Press off Cristiano's back!

"Wayne phoned me on the day of the World Cup final and said he had a great idea. He suggested he could do a TV interview with Ronaldo and they could show everything was fine.
