McTominay says Manchester United players are buying into Solskjaer’s plans

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has said that the Red Devils players are buying into the plans of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils had a forgettable 2018/19 campaign where they finished sixth on the table but there have been positive signs in pre-season with the team showing a much-better workrate.

Speaking to reporters, McTominay acknowledged that Solskjaer has been offering double training sessions for the players and the same has brought out a positive mindset during the recent pre-season friendlies, he said:“The running, the training hard is perfect. But it's the details that we're trying to get right this pre-season. I think you can see from the results and the way that we're playing now that it's going to plan. There are things we need to work on and aspects of our game that each individual player has to work on as well. It's important we take all that information on board because it's an important season.”

United have been fluent through their three pre-season matches and they have scored seven goals while conceding none in the process. As such, they appear to be going on the right track ahead of the new Premier League season, though that has not necessarily ended the club’s pursuit for recruits during the transfer window.

The Red Devils have already landed the likes of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who have made their mark during pre-season, but there could be further additions before the transfer deadline approaches next month. The central defence has been identified as a potential point of weakness ahead of the new campaign and reports suggest that the club could swoop for the signature of Harry Maguire.

On the other hand, there has been the suggestion that the Red Devils may recruit another midfielder after witnessing the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini over the past six months. Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff have been earmarked as potential candidates, who could boost the midfield department.
