Wes Brown says Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney deserves as much recognition as teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Wayne has made an excellent contribution to the team," said Brown. "You look at his movement and the way he has set up a lot of goals for Ronny (Ronaldo).

"Wayne is a threat up front when he plays there on his own. If you ask any defender, I am sure they will say he is just as good as Ronny, even though he has not scored as many. However, I am convinced he will get more goals before the end of the season.

"When those two play up front, defenders are in for a lot of hard work. We know that because we have to face the two of them in training and know what they are capable of."
