UNITED TO OFFER COACHING ROLE FOR VAN DER SAR

  • 30 December 2010

Manchester United are looking to offer a new coaching role for Edwin van Der Sar once he retires. The goalkeeper has yet to officially state his intentions, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson reckons this campaign will be the 40-year-old’s last.

United believe he would be useful in terms of the experience he has amassed over the years, having played for Holland 130 times and won the Champions League twice.

The club see the Dutchman as a possible mentor to new signing Anders Lindegaard.

In other news, Van der Sar might have some new team-mates soon, with Rangers goalie Allan McGregor and Honduras Footballer David Suazo linked to the club in the January transfer window.
