Owen Expects to be Booed

  • 27 October 2009

There was a time that Michael Owen was revered at Anfield and then there was a time that he was booed and so for Michael Owen, trips back to his old club always carry a certain amount of emotional attachment for him.

The difference this time for the striker is that with all due respect to Newcastle he is in a team that stands a chance of beating Liverpool a point that Owen has not let slip by.

Speaking to Skysports Owen said

“It will be different, it’ll be a bit noisier!”

“I’ve been back before with Newcastle a couple of times, so I’ve played there for an opposing team. But I’m certainly looking forward to this game.

“As usual between United and Liverpool, it’ll be a competitive game between two of the world’s top, top teams.

“The teams are more equally matched perhaps than when I went back with Newcastle, so it should be a good game and an exciting day.”

“It’s still early in the season but you don’t want to lose too many games or drop too many points at this stage.

Owen is sure to receive a noisy reception especially in light of some of his recent comments that Man Utd are bigger than Liverpool.
