David de Gea has welcomed French international Paul Pogba

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has welcomed French international Paul Pogba to Old Trafford and he says that it is like that the midfielder never left the club.

Pogba fell out with then manager Sir Alex Ferguson and decided to join Juventus on a free transfer. The Italian club had to pay only a training compensation of £ 1.5 million for the player. In the last four years with the Italian Serie A outfit, Pogba has developed into one of the best players in the world. Even though there was interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, the entry of United into the picture changed the entire dynamic.

Pogba had been a United player for several years as a youngster before joining Juventus. Knowing the club from inside out, the midfielder instantly made the decision to return to the club where it all began for him. Goalkeeper David de Gea would have been playing for Madrid had he not made a U-turn and signed a new five-year contract with United 12 months back. He will not only be on the same pitch with Pogba but also with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has joined a free transfer. De Gea says that the return to Old Trafford feels like home for the French international.

"I think he is something special. Signing for this club, he played here before and I think he's home. He feels like this is his home and we are all really, really happy to have him again in Manchester. He's now with all his friends again in Manchester, with everyone here, and he looks like he never left the club. He's really good for the team. I think it's good to have a mix of young players and experienced players. That's what we have in the team now and I think it's really good for the young players,” said the goalkeeper.
