Yaya Touré was singled out with criticism

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré was singled out with criticism after a poor display in the midfield against Manchester United.

His team suffered a 4-2 loss which has effectively ended any hopes of a title. More importantly, it has opened the possibility of City dropping out of the top four if such poor run of form continues. The team has not won an away match since the 4-1 success over Stoke City in the middle of February. They have lost an astonishing five games away from home on the trot is the Champions League match against Barcelona is also taken into account.

It has been suggested that some of the City players have lost the will to perform at a high level; one of those individuals midfielder Yaya Touré, who was easily one of the best players in the league last season. After being linked with a move from the club throughout the summer, Touré ended up staying at City. However, if such poor form does not recover the midfielder could very well be leaving the club in the coming transfer window. United’s Ashley Young was an integral part of the win over City as was midfielder Marouane Fellaini. Touré failed to deal with the threat ofFellaini despite being the man marking him.

"Felli has been brilliant. Everyone will say the same. Since he’s come into the team, he’s been fantastic.I’ve said before that very few people can handle him. On his day, he’s unplayable. I don’t think Yaya Toure wanted to be tracking back, he wanted to be at the other end of the pitch but he had that job to do on Felli. When Felli is in the box and you can find him, you’ve definitely got a chance of scoring.I saw him at the back post and hoped he’d get on the end of it and score," said Young.
